German builder, Abeking & Rasmussen, launched the new 262-foot (80-meter) motoryacht Excellence last weekend. Designed in collaboration with Winch Design, this groundbreaking yacht is for a very experienced American owner.
According to Winch Design, Excellence’s owner’s brief was for ‘an extraordinary yacht that had a seamless feeling of openness and connection to the outside world’. The yacht sports a striking and angular reverse bow offering a silhouette comparable to a spaceship. Her exterior lines draw the eye up to the bridge and owner’s decks, which are surrounded on all sides by curved floor-to-ceiling mirrored glass, the largest panel a staggering 20-feet (6 meters) in length. The in-house engineering team at Abeking & Rasmussen succeeded in installing these glass panels without disturbing this unique view by disruptive structures. The statement glass reaches 180 degrees around the master suite meaning that sleeping guests can wake up in the morning fully immersed in their peaceful surroundings.

“We are very proud of this extraordinary yacht and our exceptional workforce, who bravely mastered all requirements says Hans Schaedla, CEO of Abeking & Rasmussen.
“Never before have glass panels been installed in these dimensions. The unusual lines repeatedly presented employees with major challenges. Now we have developed and successfully finished this masterpiece and can hardly wait for the sea trials.”

The interior of Excellence, also penned by Winch Design, is a fitting match for her modern exterior. She features a large swimming pool and platform, as well as Jacuzzi, sprawling beach club and impressive limousine tenders. She is fitted with ‘zero speed stabilizers’ providing maximum comfort even when cruising through rough waters.

Sea trials along the river Weser and out on the North Sea will commence shortly while the outfitting program of the yacht continues to ensure that her “Excellence” will be delivered to her Owner in summer 2019.
