The ultimate outdoor cinema

The Antigua Charter Yacht Show, a well-attended annual meeting that showcases to brokers what the yachts and their crew can do to create the ultimate vacation for their clients, put on a spectacular display this year. An estimated 700 people met on opening night at the charming Copper & Lumber in historic Nelson’s Dockyard, and about 120 boats and yachts, ranging in size from 47′ to 289′ and with names from A (Aiyana) to Z (Zigzag,) dropped anchor in Nelson’s Dockyard Marina, the Antigua Yacht Club and Falmouth Harbour Marina. Charter brokers came from New England to New Zealand to view the yachts and meet the crew who cater to their charter clients. The Maltese Falcon was the largest in show and the 289′ Perini Navi, launched in 2006, still knows how to get a buzz going. The crew re-created for its guests the magical experience of an outdoor cinema, using a section of its spectacular sails as a screen. Movie night aboard the Maltese Falcon gave the oscar-winning Avatar a whole new dimension.
