Currently in build for Russian billionaire/yacht owner Andrey Melnichenko, 469-foot sailing yacht A is being completed at the Nobiskrug yard in Germany where she was spotted on the move just after her giant carbon masts – the world’s tallest ever – had been installed.

The sailing yacht A (known until recently as project White Pearl) will be the world’s largest sailing yacht upon her 2016 completion and is rumored to cost more than $400 million. She will have 8 decks and will feature a 1-foot thick glass underwater observation area located in the keel. Like Melnichenko’s motor yacht by the same name, sailing yacht A is designed by Philippe Starck.

She will be powered by a hybrid diesel-electric package with controllable pitch propellers, and will accommodate 20 guests and a crew of 54. She has some remarkable features: her three masts tower up to 328 feet above the water, her decks are connected by several elevators, and she will carry a submarine. A will reach a top speed of 21 knots, with a cruise speed at 16 knots.
