Making Waves: Palumbo Shipyards Unveils “Sport Hybrid” Series

Italian builder Palumbo Shipyards introduced a new series of “green” yachts with hybrid propulsion at an elegant cocktail party at the Hôtel de Paris during the 2012 Monaco Yacht Show. The Columbus Sport Hybrid line, which ranges from 65 to 213 feet (25 to 65 meters), will be constructed entirely of aluminum on a displacement hullform designed by Sergio Cutolo of Hydro Tec.

Builders all over the world have been busy in the last few months. Lurssen has launched Ace (ex-Project Rocky), RMK launched their 4500 and announced a new Sparkman & Stephens project, Palumbo has a new hybrid sport yacht under construction, Seaton and Burger team up for a new expedition yacht, Ferretti delivers Hull No. 28 of its Custom Line 112 NEXT to China, and Nobiskrug delivers top 100 contender Mogambo.
