Construction Progresses in Turkey
In May, Perini Navi successfully turned the hull of a 230-foot (70-meter) aluminum ketch under construction at the builder’s Istanbul-Yildiz yard in Turkey. Although the yard consulted with Philippe Briand on the naval architecture and sail plan, most of the project is in the hands of the Perini Navi Technical and Design Office. One notable feature of the design is its retractable keel, which will vary in draft from 14 feet 11 inches (4.54 meters) to 38 feet 5 inches (11.7 meters). The layout features an open main deck that combines the living and dining areas, while the lower deck will house four ensuite guest cabins. The full-beam master suite will have a private office and lounging area. The yacht is the yard’s second-largest build after the 289-foot (88-meter) Maltese Falcon and is scheduled for delivery in 2015.
