Lighthouses have been safe havens and points of architectural fascination for centuries, but now technology helps bring some far flung lighthouses to your mobile device. An app produced by 2k Yachting combines information about the 32 lighthouses scattered around the Balearic Islands and a free photo sharing service for users to add their own lighthouse photography. The app’s official photography of the lighthouses is the work of Helmut Kraus and each lighthouse includes several tabs and informational panels including maps provided by Google, technical specifications that cover official lists of lights and fog signals as well as a tab with information about the history and background of the lighthouse. The main map page of the app will show the location of all 32 lighthouses and tapping on the location will bring up the information for that particular lighthouse.
