The West Indies island of St. Kitts was formerly known as St. Christophe Island. Now St. Christophe’s name graces the island’s scenic southeast area, named Christophe Harbor. That is where for the past few years, a group of investors has dreamed and planned a 2,500-acre real estate sort with a superyacht marina. Yachtsman and entrepreneur Buddy Darby, who owns the sailing yacht Andromeda la Dea, and heads real estate development company Kiawah Partners, is one of the forces behind the multi-use development. After a pause, the development, which is built around a 200-acre marina with 300 slips for yacht 98 feet (30 meters) to just shy of 300 feet (91 meters), has resumed in earnest since breaking ground in August 2012. Also part of the resort is a Tom Fazio-designed golf course, which will complement the existing Royal St. Kitts Golf Club and another course on the neighboring island of Nevis, both popular with the yachting set. The full-service marina at Christophe Harbour will be an approved port of entry to clear customs into St. Kitts.
