Coming to Miami for the boat shows February 14 to 18? You may want to check out one of the new cool places in town. French designer Philippe Starck, designer of the yachts A and Venus, has returned to Miami to add his special touch to a new hospitality project. In the 1990s, his work at the Delano Hotel contributed to the rejuvenation of classic Art Deco hotels. Flowing white curtains, all-white rooms, a touch of whimsy—The Miami Beach style was born. This time Starck’s has brought his inimitable style to the developer Sam Nazarian’s SLS Hotel South Beach. This renewed hotel located on Collins Avenue has a quintessentially Starck style, which means you should expect the unexpected—a nearly 10-foot tall silver rubber ducky sits on the pool’s edge. Master Sushi Chef Katsuya Uechi and celebrated Spanish Chef José Andrès, as well as Rock star/actor/designer Lenny Kravitz also bring their significant star power to the hotel.
