Dieselcraft FPS-8 Diesel Fuel Polishing and Tank Cleaning System
Dieselcraft has introduced a portable filtration, polishing and tank-cleaning system, suitable for tanks under 5,000 gallons. The relatively compact FPS-8, which weights about 150 pounds, handles around 500 gallons an hour. According to Dieselcraft’s unit specifications, the FPS-8 is able to remove 95 percent of water and contamination from fuel. The unit also includes a digital flow meter, water sensor and semi-pneumatic tires. It is priced at just under $6,500 for the US market.

GuardDog GPS
While this small GPS tracking device is far from the only one available on the market, its price point and size make it an attractive option for smaller boats and toys. Fort Lauderdale-based GuardDog makes and markets the MarineTrac GPS as a tracking and security system rolled into one. The company offers a no-contract annual or monthly airtime plan for unlimited phone and web use, allowing the MarineTrac to communicate instantly a vessel’s position, speed and direction. Set a perimeter around any craft, and you will instantly be alerted in case of a breach. A waterproof case protects components, and information from the unit can be retrieved even from handheld devices. Price (without airtime) is just under $280.

UltraSonic Works Introduces ClearHull Anti-Fouling System
UK-based Ultrasonic Works awaits a patent on its ultrasonic antifouling system—ClearHull. Electronic engineers and biologists worked together to find the best option to keep algae and crustaceans away from hull bottoms, and came up with this integrated electronic system, which is effective with only 12 volts of electricity. It includes a robust transducer and a web portal for monitoring. Because of the low voltage running through the cable, the system is safer than higher-power options and less likely to interfere with wireless navigation and communication systems. It can be positioned optimally for maximum power efficiency, and the built-in temperature sensor can tell the unit to adjust power output for better results against a wide range of waterborne algae and crustaceans.
