The Newport Charter Yacht Show just wrapped its annual show and we look back at what happened this year, but it’s not too early to look forward to the Fort Lauderdale show. October will be here sooner than you think!

The Sixth Fort Yachtie Da International Film Festival

The Fort Yachtie Da International Film Festival is already in its sixth year and the festival is officially open to entries for the 2013 contest. Captains and crews are invited to put together a five-minute video and showcase almost anything.

Making Waves: Galley Wars at FLIBS

One of the key ingredients to a successful charter experience is the fine cuisine that comes out of the galley. But yacht chefs not only prepare exceptional food, they also love a contest.

The 2012 Yachts International Pavilion

Wind, rain or sunshine, the Yachts International Pavilion saw steady crowds throughout the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Yacht owners, announcers and yachting-industry VIPs mingled in the newly redecorated private lounge; enjoyed daily chef-prepared buffets, cocktails and conversations; and watched chefs battled it out during Galley Wars at the adjacent Captain’s Den.

The Captain’s Den Introduces Galley Wars

Last year at the Fort Lauderdale show, Yachts International introduced a companion to its well-known Pavilion—the Captains’ Den. This year, the Captains’ Den returns with a new look, better access and full-on entertainment. The new air-conditioned Den will also host a new exciting competition, dubbed Galley Wars, pitting top-notch teams of yacht chefs in three rounds of grueling competition.

AB Inflatables Lightweight Center Console

Among the many tenders debuting at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show this week is a light and compact tender from AB Inflatables. Equipped with the standard 20hp four-stroke Tohatsu engine, it weighs just 425 pounds. However, the new 10 VSX is no lightweight when it comes to equipment and performance.

The International SeaKeepers Society Founders’ Dinner

The International SeaKeepers Society hosts its Founders Dinner in Fort Lauderdale on October 24. The event is an excellent networking opportunity as well as a great way to raise the funds necessary for the organization to continue its diverse programs.
