Vintage Weekend, a long-standing tradition at the Florida Key’s Ocean Reef Club, returns November 29 to December 2, 2012. Each year the event showcase fine classic yachts, aircraft and automobiles. The 18th edition of the Vintage Weekend’s headliner is likely to be a famous former presidential yacht, the Honey Fitz. After years of painstaking work, the 92-foot 3-inch yacht that was one of President John F. Kennedy’s favorite retreats from public life, has been restored to her former glory. Palm Beach, Florida-based Moore Marine restored the privately owned vessel. Yachts International featured an article on Honey Fitz several years ago, before the work was completed, providing a glimpse into this glorious yacht’s rich history (click here to read). Among classic boats sure to attend will be several examples of the fine work done by Trumpy Yachts and Rybovich & Sons Boat Works.

Activities include a road rally, tailgate party, ice cream social, lectures, an air show and awards dinner.

Located on 2,500 tropical acres on the northern tip of Key Largo Ocean Reef is a private club, marina and member-owned resort community. However, Vintage Weekend provides everyone who wishes to attend an opportunity to visit the resort.
