Fabrizio Di Carne, CEO of Wave Boats LLC and FDC-Designs, spent two years developing the design and engineering for the new Wave F55. The result is an innovative 18-foot tender that is also a sporty driver’s boat.

Di Carne, who began his career in the automotive industry, more recently applied his skills to boats manufactured by tender builders Novurania and Nautica. The F55 is a departure, he says. Sure, the boat has hypalon tubes, but they are integrated into the dynamic design in such a way that you forget they are utilitarian.
In designing the F55, Di Carne focused on the driving experience. “This is not for people who need a tender, but for people who want a tender,” he says. The console is ergonomically designed and can be adjusted electronically for the operator’s comfort. The boat is offered with a long list of options, including underwater lights, GPS, stereo with iPod dock and a choice of colors, materials and deck layouts to make the boat unique for each client. Top speed with four passengers is 45 mph with a 150hp Yamaha outboard. A diesel sterndrive version will follow next year.
