45 mph on land and water

This craft, recently shown at the Fort Lauderdale and Miami shows, will shatter the notion that an amphibious craft can only do one thing well. Gibbs reports the Quadski’s top speed on land and water to be about 45 mph. Transition between land and water is seemingly as easy as pressing a button—the ATV wheels retract or deploy in about four seconds.

For stability, the lightweight composite craft, which is equipped with a 140-hp 4-cylinder engine, has an attractive wide stance. Assembled in Auburn, Mich., the Quadskis are tested near Stuart, Fla.
