Cannes is known for many things: the Film Festival each May, stretches of sandy beaches along the Croisette, the reliably sunny, beautiful weather and, of course, the Cannes Yachting Festival. Yet, what has continues to consistently attract the top tier of luxury travelers each year, are its stunning grand dame hotels. A classic since the days of the original jet set, the Hotel Martinez, opened this past summer season with a bang. Here are three reasons why the Hotel Martinez is worth a visit this season if you are Yachting Festival or cruising along the Cote d’Azur.

New Suites
The first reason the hotel is a must are its new penthouse suites. Only bookable via the hotel’s General Manager, the suites were designed by architect and interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon. The only two penthouse apartments with a panoramic view of the Bay of Cannes, make them the hot ticket in town—especially since when they are booked together, form one of the largest hotel suites in all of Europe. No matter how large your party, everyone is sure to have enough space to themselves. The suites feature every luxury you could imagine from spacious living areas, plush bedrooms, standalone tubs in the bathrooms and of course the best sunset views in all of Cannes from the terraces.

The New Pool
As a member of the Unbound Collection by Hyatt, the Hotel Martinez has joined an elite group of world class hotels brought together by their unique stories that they each have to tell. And the Martinez has just turned the page in its next chapter because it opened their brand-new outdoor pool during the Film Festival this past May. Dubbed “L’Oasis du Martinez”, the new pool area can be found behind the hotel, away from the hustle and bustle of the Croisette. It is truly a space to relax and unwind, while enjoying the Mediterranean sunshine.

The Carita Spa
Alongside the new pool, the Martinez also launched a new spa this year. In partnership with Carita, a French brand that Parisians stand by, the spa offers seven treatment rooms. Massages and Carita facials are of course the focus, but there is also a hair salon, a nail salon and a hammam. The entire space is surrounded by manicured gardens making it a place you will want to linger—a true urban oasis. There is a bar serving fresh juices so you can stay hydrated as you soak up the sun after your treatment. There is also a beautifully modern gym here as well.

The Martinez has been a favorite as long as Cannes has been a favorite among the world’s pleasure seekers. The new suites, pool and spa are just the excuse to return once more. So, if you will be in the neighborhood, I recommend making a reservation.
