Benetti’s Livorno shipyard saw trouble last week when a 183-foot (56-meter) motoryacht in the final stages of construction caught fire. The yard believed that the problem started with a massive electrical storm in the area that night causing a strong electrical discharge or spark on board. The system that usually protects a yacht’s systems from this issue had not yet been armed and no one was sleeping on board that night to hear the alarms. In response to the event, Benetti has taken measures to ensure such an accident does not occur again. The yacht, currently known as FB261, has been taken out of the water for repairs and completion.

We will share more details as they are released.
