The month of October marks Abeking & Rasmussen’s 114th birthday. Founded in 1907, the German based shipyard, has many reasons to celebrate: It has been the most versatile year regarding projects since the company has been founded – by far.

The yard’s 387-foot/118 -meter motoryacht—the largest yacht A&R has ever built— is in its stage of outfitting. She will be delivered to her Owner next year. The 387-feet/118-meter will get an even larger sister, as a contract for a 394 +foot/120+ meter was signed this summer.

Many Abeking owners have returned to the fold for refits. So far this year, 9 refits have arrived at the shipyard, some new clients included, and there are more refit projects to follow soon.

Abeking & Rasmussen’s order book also includes three multi- purpose vessels, each more than 295-feet/90- meters in length. These are some of the most innovative and challenging projects the shipyard has ever worked on. The technical challenge: is that they will be used in LNG operation in hazardous – flammable or toxic – environments.

Also in build are two mine hunting vessels for the Indonesian Navy. The next generation of mine hunting vessels is 203-feet/62-meters long and made of high-strength and non-magnetic steel produced using an innovative laser welding process.

“Working on a range of projects and technologies for different clients and purposes has always been a strength of Abeking & Rasmussen,” explains Matthias Hellmann, Abeking’s CFO. Besides certain synergies we always found it very helpful to gain expertise with technologies in one market before these things where even asked for in other markets.”

Happy Birthday Abeking & Rasmussen!
