If you’re going to “fly” a sailboat on foils, it makes sense to consult with engineers from aviation giant Airbus. That’s what the American Magic team, which represents the New York Yacht Club, is planning to do in its challenging efforts for the America’s Cup in 2020, did.

In a brief statement, American Magic said it sought out Airbus “to optimize the performance of its racing yacht’s design process, particularly looking to leverage the aerospace industry global pioneer’s expertise in engineering and simulation.”
