CRN has been synonymous with the concept of bespoke since the company’s founding in 1963. The pure-custom approach has been applied to superyacht construction throughout the brand’s 60-year history. Now, a new area has brought this unique philosophy to architecture and interior design. The result is the new executive office building of Ferretti Group’s metal superyachts division.

These new executive, operating and hospitality spaces, opened in December 2023, are part of a project to upgrade the entire Ancona shipyard. They exude elegance, sophistication and expertise, giving owners and other guests an immersive experience that starts with the first exploratory meetings and continues throughout the entire journey of creating a pleasure vessel.

Covering around 4,200 square meters and accommodating over 150 employees, the building brings together the company’s identity, history and know-how in an innovative and highly recognizable industrial architecture project that combines aesthetics, functionality and sustainability in a workplace designed for wellbeing.

Two guiding principles inspired the design of the spaces, one is the idea that the shipyard is like a CRN megayacht, with elements that echo Italian aesthetics and the functionality, comfort, noble materials and exquisitely bespoke qualities of every aspect of a pleasure vessel, and the other is the desire to promote the local area as the leitmotif of a project designed to consolidate deep ties with the city of Ancona.

The Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard is a strategic construction hub and represents the state of-the-art in terms of know-how, naval architecture and yacht design, with the highest standards of research, innovation, expertise and craftsmanship: values that have always been imprinted in CRN’s DNA. The Superyacht Yard is the Ferretti Group hub for made-to-measure and fully custom yachts over 30 meters in length. Here CRN, bespoke brand of the Group, designs, engineers and builds fully custom super and megayachts from 50 to 95 meters. At the moment, there are four CRN yachts in steel and aluminum under construction—a blend of bespoke design and sophisticated naval architecture developed by CRN’s Engineering Team.

The 67-meter CRN M/Y 143 Project Maranello combines CRN’s design, build quality and know-how with the experience and creativity of Nuvolari Lenard. The launch of this steel-and-aluminum superyacht is scheduled for the end of 2024. The CRN Engineering team has designed and developed a state-of-the-art hybrid propulsion system and the superyacht will be able to cruise with the main engines or with the gensets only. The focus on energy efficiency can also be seen in the heat recovery system used to supply hot water to the swimming pools and the deck washing system, reducing the energy impact and costs, while ensuring prompt and efficient service.

The 85-meter CRN M/Y 144 will be the new flagship of the brand. The naval architecture has been developed by the CRN Engineering team, while the exteriors are designed in collaboration with architecture studio Vallicelli Design.

The 70m CRN M/Y 145 Project Thunderball is another example of highly innovative naval architecture developed by CRN engineering, with exteriors by architecture studio Vripack and interiors and outdoor furniture by Nauta Design studio. This superyacht is set to be a very exciting vessel, with classic lines that draw inspiration from those of sailing boats. On this superyacht, the CRN team designed and integrated the Peak Shaving System, an energy storage system that keeps the electricity curve as flat as possible and serves to control the utilities on board, allowing operations in silent mode when the boat is anchored.

Lastly, the latest project designed is the 67-meter CRN M/Y Project 146. A perfect combination of innovation, the finest craftsmanship and sophisticated naval engineering by CRN, this is the 10th creation in CRN’s partnership with architects Nuvolari Lenard. This superyacht will also feature a state-of-the-art hybrid propulsion system with integrated heat recovery to further reduce the energy impact of the yacht.

A bespoke approach and innovation are what drive CRN superyacht design and construction and continue to represent CRN’s quality and ability and to meet the owner’s vision, as the brand has done since 1963.
