YEAR: 1973
This yacht, which once belonged to late Greek shipping tycoon Stavros Niarchos, was built under the name Atlantis I. Niarchos is thought to have later offered the yacht to King Fahd of Saudi Arabia or built the vessel as a replacement for a yacht he gave the Saudi Royals. Later renamed Issham al Baher, the yacht with architecture by Maierform, has been seen a bit more around the Mediterranean, a welcome treat for historic yacht enthusiasts. In 2004 to 2005, Privatsea Projects installed a pool, replaced teak decking and furniture, completed a paint job and upgraded navigation equipment. Niarchos, who served as an officer in the Greek Navy during WWII built his first supertanker in 1952. The Suez Canal crisis, which created a demand for these huge ships, allowed him to rebuild the family financial empire.
