The Captain of My Soul
Delta’s latest delivery, Invictus, will be a striking addition to the charter market. Named after the spirit of a 19th-century poem by William Ernest Henley, this 217-foot (66-meter) yacht features numerous windows and an extra-wide beam—43 feet (13.1 meters). High ceilings contribute to the open feeling on the yacht. The interior is the product of a partnership between Diane Johnson Design and Johnson, Wen, Mulder & Associates Architecture. It incorporates both traditional and modern influences including intricate detailing and a nod to the Rat Pack era. The master stateroom on the main deck offers 180-degree views and the central living areas are built around family living. The formal dining room is framed by a curved sliding glass door and features an expandable table that can seat more than 20 guests. Also on board are an on-deck gym, a theater and numerous gathering areas for large or small parties. Powered by twin Caterpillar 3516 engines, Invictus has a 6,000-nautical-mile range at 12 knots and a maximum speed of 17 knots, the builder says.
