Catamarans are known for speed and smooth, light lift. For its new 45 Flybridge, Mares created asymmetrical hulls, tapering from bow to stern. The width differential forces air under the hulls that compresses with speed, providing less hydrodynamic drag, quicker planing, fuel efficiency and enhanced maneuverability. Zeus pod drives allowed Mares to design additional space forward including a full-beam master cabin with walkaround berth, en suite head and shower, and a starboard kids/guest cabin. A small galley adjoins the salon, opening to the aft deck. Twin 480-horsepower Cummins QSB engines push her to 30 knots, with a 550-horsepower option to achieve 35 knots.
