Tatoosh
LENGTH: 303ft. (92.4m)
SHIPYARD: Nobiskrug, Germany
YEAR: 2000
Paul Allen purchased Tatoosh in 2001 for a reported $100 million before ordering Octopus from the Lürssen shipyard. Styling is by Kusch yacht and interior design by Terence Disdale. The layout of the five-deck ship includes a master suite and a salon on the top deck; a salon with a French limestone fireplace, a dining area, and staterooms on the main deck with a six-foot-deep swimming pool located aft; facilities to transport two helicopters on the top two decks. A custom 40-foot Hinckley powerboat and a Hinckley sailboat are mounted on either side of the yacht. Twin 3,360 hp Deutz MWM engines power the yacht, which is a common sight in Cannes during the film festival and major conventions. Although Tatoosh is not listed as a charter yacht, perhaps everything has its price. According to the London Times, Teodorín Nguema Obiang, the extravagant son of the President of Equatorial Guinea, paid about $780,000 to hire Tatoosh for a cruise. The yacht spent time in dry dock in the South of France in 2009/2010 and has been listed for an asking price of about $158 million (125 million euros).
