VSY launched its new 210-foot (64 meter) yacht called Atomic on June 10th in Livorno, Italy. She is the third yacht in the series designed by Espen Øino, yet she is a clear evolution from the previous ones: Sealyon (ex Candyscape II) and RoMa. Jean-Claude Carme of Thompson, Westwood & White was the broker for the project and also project manager for its development.

Atomic’s owner had very clear ideas of what he wanted to achieve. The yacht has dynamic positioning system, diesel electric thrusters and high- powered generators encased in sound-insulated cabins. French designer, Darnet Design, is responsible for the interior design, which features six suites including a panoramic owner’s suite with exterior/interior terraces. There is a professional diving center for 12 guests and the sundeck sports a large infinity pool aft and a cozy fire pit forward.

The yacht integrates leading-edge environmental systems and programs to reduce environmental impact and allow navigation in protected marine areas to respect the seabed when anchoring. Also, the yacht has special filters to purify exhaust fumes, while the 4 X 200 kW generators power the thrusters allowing navigation under electric propulsion without starting the main engine.

This eco-conscious approach was requested by the yacht’s owner who intends to cruise in remote areas of the world in a spirit of respect for the environment and marine life. The yacht, arrived in Livorno on a flatboat just for the launching, and will now sail back to Viareggio for the completion and final delivery.
