Miami 2013: Ecoboats Silennis S020

Ecoboats is taking it a step further. This Fort Lauderdale-based company is launching its first boat in Miami this year: the Silennis S020. Entirely electric, the Silennis makes no wake, no noise and requires no gas. Ever.

CRN 80M: The Designer’s Thoughts

The 262-foot CRN 80M marks a milestone for Zuccon International Project as the studio’s biggest yacht so far. The studio designed the yacht’s internal layout and defined its outer profile, and focused maintaining ties with the shipyard’s long history and tradition.

Making Waves: CRN’s New Flagship

The launch of a new yacht is always a big event. But the launch of Chopi Chopi at CRN in Ancona, Italy, on January 12, 2013 was bigger than most. At 262 feet 3 inches and 2,400 tons, Chopi Chopi is very big, but she also is the largest yacht yet to be built by CRN, the largest yacht to be built on Italy’s Adriatic coast and one of the largest yachts launched in Italy to date.

Princess 40M: An Imperial Princess

A technically advanced long-range cruising yacht with a detailed, luxurious interior, the new Princess is a production yacht with all the allure and trimmings of a custom build. She was the perfect step forward for a long-time Princess owner.

The Maine Attraction: A Summer Charter On Lady J

A hint of pine in the air, cool temperatures at night, nary another yacht in sight. Maine provides a different experience from most charter trips you will ever take. Lady J’s captain lives in Maine and has mastered the art of sharing its many charms with charter guests.

Hargrave 125 RPH: Raised Expectations

This year Hargrave Yachts took a leap by bringing to the market models designed to appeal to a new breed of owners. The Hargrave 125 with its contemporary design and all-American layout got our attention and, best of all, that of potential yacht owners.

CdM Darwin 86 Percheron: Go Anywhere Do Anything

If there were any doubt that the owner of Percheron—the second Darwin 86 from Cantiere delle Marche (CdM)—really intended to use his expedition yacht for long-range cruising, there should not be any now. Percheron was launched in time for the 2012 Cannes Boat Show where I had a chance to get aboard. It was mid-September and she was already raring to go.

Making Waves: Benetti Challenge Produces 27 Innovative Projects from 16 Designers

Benetti Yachts asked nearly 20 international design firms, including established designers and a few new to the industry, to develop superyacht projects in the 50- to 90-plus-meter range and explore the idea of the yacht of the future. The Benetti Design Innovation Challenge yielded 27 creative and beautifully articulated projects from 16 designers and their staffs.
