Going “eco friendly” is increasingly important as we become aware of the impact our mere presence has on the environment on a global scale. In response, many companies are looking into hybrid technologies and solar power. Ecoboats is taking it a step further. This Fort Lauderdale-based company is launching its first boat in Miami this year: the Silennis S020. Entirely electric, the Silennis makes no wake, no noise and requires no gas. Ever. While you won’t be jetting anywhere in a hurry—the engine’s top speed is about 7 knots—the boat could easily serve as a tender or a dayboat to putt-putt around the marina or for a comfortable cruise through the Intracoastal. Available options include teak or non-skid decks, bimini top and detachable transom.
