The launching of Lady Tahiti, the first Majesty 135 hull from Gulf Craft, coincided with the company’s 30th anniversary. To mark the event, the shipyard organized a celebratory gathering in Dubai, and we were among a select group of international journalists allowed to inspect the yacht and explore the well-equipped shipyard in which she was built.

On the occasion of our latest visit to Heesen’s facilities in Oss, we had the opportunity to get aboard the builder’s new flagship, the all-aluminum Heesen 65m. Construction started in December 2011 after a long design and planning process. The much-anticipated yacht, currently in the outfitting stages, is well on her way to an on-time delivery in 2013.

A recent visit to New Bern, NC, home of Pepsi and Hatteras, allowed us to catch up on the construction of its new flagship: the Hatteras 100 RPH.

No designer would disagree that shaping a custom motoryacht is a complex and daunting task. Throw in the compounding dimension of also meeting the diverse preferences of the worldwide charter market, and it quickly becomes a project decidedly not for the faint of heart. A stunning new addition to the charter market, this 196-foot CRN has a refreshing minimalist décor with a human touch and great features for extended stays at sea. Darlings Danama is expected to make her Monaco Yacht Show debut in September.

The Crystal 140 is one of the newest models in superyacht-builder Benetti’s semi-custom offering. Exterior styling by Stefano Righini and a functional interior by François Zuretti give her an alluring and subtle personality, suitable for personalization.

For the Top 100 set especially, what constitutes a tender is a wide-open field. A 282-foot length and a 47-foot beam do provide many options for carry-aboard auxiliary boats, to say nothing of chase or shadow boats. And as it turns out, the world’s biggest yachts feature quite a fleet of attractive smaller boats that are practical, but also stylish and fun, and, in many cases, would make wonderful primary boats for a day cruise.
