Dual Purpose for Trinity Yachts

Fort Lauderdale became a little quiet as far as big yachts are concerned this summer, so we got on the road and called on a few American shipyards. One of them was Trinity Yachts, which we found busy with new yachts deliveries plus significant commercial and military work.

Nautor’s Swan 105: Takes Flight

There appears to be a general trend for sailing yacht builders to break out of a small circle of sailing fans to appeal with yachts that offer creatures comfort and are easier to handle. Without breaking with tradition, the new Nautor’s Swan 105 seems to embrace this trend.

Onboard The OA120

As he began laying out his tools and gauges in preparation for a recent trial run of the just-launched Ocean Alexander 120 tri-deck, a technician observed, “In terms of its systems alone, it’s a lot more like a 50-meter yacht.”

Merlin Yachts Offers Family-Friendly Model

Measuring less than 24 meters (79 feet) in length, the Merlin 80 is the first composite yacht designed by the Turkish shipyard of the same name specifically intended to not require a professional crew.

Benetti Launches Checkmate to Verdi

With pomp and circumstance, Benetti in early June launched its latest Vision 145, Checkmate, into Viareggio’s Darsena Italia Basin. Checkmate is the 15th yacht built in the Vision line, and the top of the Class range of yachts.

New Designs From Imaginocean

On the heels of the full-displacement 47-meter (154-foot) Tango 2, Australia’s Imaginocean Yacht Design (IYD) has released details of two new designs: the 40-meter (131-foot) GT-40 H and the 55-meter (180-foot) GT-55 H. As with T2, IYD has pursued their “longer, lower, lighter” ethos with these two projects, but has taken it to a new level. They’ve added “green” into the mix as well.

Stella Maris Launched

Viareggio Superyachts this summer launched the 72-meter (236-foot) Stella Maris. The yacht’s design is by Espen Øino and the naval architecture by Laurent Giles Naval Architects. The yacht blends traditional elements of design and layout with new variations such as, staggered internal decks, substantial headroom in the salons and an innovative bow shape.

Kingship Green Voyager Progresses

The Italian Design and Engineering Company, Axis Group Yacht Design has announced the completion of the steel hull and aluminum superstructure of the 44-meter (144-foot) motoryacht Green Voyager.
