It’s a gorgeous cool day under a clear blue Miami sky and I’m on board the new Fairline Targa 62GT. It’s my second chance to explore this sleek boat, which debuted at the 2012 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. While I had a good tour then, there’s nothing like experiencing a boat in motion to truly appreciate the thought behind the design.

Currently at the helm is Fulvio Codecasa, who works with his two daughters and sons-in-law; he has guided the shipyard since the early 1970s when Codecasa launched its first steel vessel. The Codecasas’ longevity says something about their passion and devotion to their craft, which contributed to the growth of the brand and the company.

A technically advanced long-range cruising yacht with a detailed, luxurious interior, the new Princess is a production yacht with all the allure and trimmings of a custom build. She was the perfect step forward for a long-time Princess owner.

The Mangusta 165 has finally arrived in the United States. Among her assets are amazing spaces and a speed allowing her to reach the Bahamas from the Southeastern US Coast in two hours or less.

This year Hargrave Yachts took a leap by bringing to the market models designed to appeal to a new breed of owners. The Hargrave 125 with its contemporary design and all-American layout got our attention and, best of all, that of potential yacht owners.

If there were any doubt that the owner of Percheron—the second Darwin 86 from Cantiere delle Marche (CdM)—really intended to use his expedition yacht for long-range cruising, there should not be any now. Percheron was launched in time for the 2012 Cannes Boat Show where I had a chance to get aboard. It was mid-September and she was already raring to go.

David Marlow was certain he had the right idea when he launched his first Voyager. Wanting to demonstrate that his alternative to the conventional explorer genre—a light and low-profile composite boat designed to “dance with the waves”—was indeed a valid contender, he invited other builders to an endurance trial. There were no takers. No takers, that is, until a couple of experienced sailors from Australia decided to put his Marlow Voyager 76LR to the ultimate test.
