Want to add a submarine or jet pack for your cruise this year, but wonder whether you’ll use it again? Want something on board your charter boat doesn’t already have? The U.K.-based company Superyacht Tenders & Toys is offering for rent, a range of top-end water toys including the JetLev-Flyer jet pack, the Seabob personal tow vehicle and recreational submarines.

Not so long ago, yachts were equipped with traditional tenders, personal watercraft, dive gear and maybe a small sailing dinghy or two. Recent years have seen a variety of more exotic water toys hit the market. The cost and logistical considerations associated with some of the new products, however, might inhibit some owners who’d love to have them from buying. Superyacht Tenders & Toys’ rental scheme offers owners another another pathway to play.

Superyacht Tenders & Toys founder Josh Richardson explains his company’s move into high-end rentals: “This growth is due to requests from owners and managers, with a number of clients either asking to try before they buy, or just looking at having items on board for a week or two of summer cruising without the high cost of purchasing,” he says.

He points out that submarines can cost more than $3 million to buy and that it’s not unreasonable for owners to want to try before they buy. The JetLev carries a price tag of about $100,000. Richardson says all items his company rents come with full training, and in the case of submarines, a pilot, support crew and a support vessel if required.

Superyacht Tenders & Toys is based in the U.K., but has offices in Cannes and Fort Lauderdale.
