Seaway Group based out of Slovenia and Italy has already won awards with its first boat, the Greenline 33 Hybrid. Since the launch of the 33, research and development progressed in earnest on the development of a super-efficient hull design. Debuting this year in Cannes is the first Ocean Class 70 yacht to boast what Greenline dubs its hybrid-ready “Superdisplacement” hull. The hull design cuts down on resistance, allowing the diesel or diesel-electric hybrid engines to power this yacht to a maximum speed of 22 knots or cruise comfortably between 7 to 18 knots. Using electric-only propulsion, the yacht has a range of up to 40 miles. The hybrid system incorporates lithium battery packs recharged by photovoltaic solar panels installed on the optional flybridge top, which helps reduce the need to run the generators. Comfort and self-sufficiency for the owner-operator planning long-range cruises in undeveloped areas were other priorities for the design team. Layout options include several possible configurations on the lower deck (three or four staterooms and one or two crew cabins) while the main deck and the flybridge provide all the necessary communal spaces. The Ocean Class 70 includes details like direct access to the pilothouse from the flybridge, wide, secure walkways to all parts of the deck, a well-lit interior and spacious cockpit. The styling of the interior is by the renowned Rhoades Young.
