The Heesen shipyard is buzzing with activity centered on the 55-meter Venus.

“We’re installing the bulkheads and beginning the interior fit-out designed by the brilliant Luca Dini Design & Architecture,” says Heesen’s Sales Director Robert Drontmann. “Our team of 64 experts is hard at work mounting the interiors, laying exquisite parquet and installing luxurious marbles. In coming weeks, we’ll complete all the cable-pulling. Dutch-built yachts are famous for the perfection of their systems, and this includes perfectly executed cable routing.”

Venus will have a Matterhorn-white finish. This month, we’ll be applying the show coat from the sundeck down to the waterline, giving her that perfect sheen.

This stage of construction is very interesting for yacht connoisseurs. It’s a rare opportunity for you and your clients to witness the meticulous craftsmanship and passion we pour into every detail of our yachts.

The 55-meter (180-foot) class is one of our most successful series and is the pinnacle of our continuous pursuit of excellence and innovation in superyacht design and construction. This strong model possesses a Dutch pedigree and a proven engineering platform. More notably; it is the only 55-meter speculation yacht built by a Northern European shipyard with fast delivery available on the market today. No other yacht builder in the world can offer this unique combination in the coveted 55-meter size range.

The class features a streamlined exterior penned by Dutch studio Omega Architects and a proven hull design devised in partnership with Van Oossanen. Venus’s defining features include:

  • Large interior volume – An approximate 760 gross tons delivers greater interior volume, meaning larger rooms.
  • Steel hull FDHF – The proven hull design delivers excellent fuel efficiency heightened by an improved reduction in resistance specifically for the steel hull FDHF.
  • Guaranteed stability – Positioning the stabilizer fins further forward increases stability at anchor, reduces their impact on steering, and guarantees onboard comfort for guests.
  • Excellent seakeeping capabilities – Large rudders, a powerful steering unit, and high-pitch propellers deliver quick reaction times, even in the roughest of seas.

The muscular exterior lines of the 55-meter class have been revisited by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects. “As much as we love our original design with the vertical windows, we felt it was time to make an evolutionary step,” said Frank. “We opted for a larger expanse of floor-to-ceiling glass, without mullions, in the main saloon and sky lounge. Then, we took the opportunity to give a slightly more aggressive look to the profile by using continuous sheets of tinted glass. The horizontal lines stretch the optical length and balance the air draft. The result is beautiful: We retained the family look and feel, but gave it an elegant touch.”

The layout has also been reconsidered and now includes a veranda for the owner’s apartment, complete with new walk-in wardrobes and a bar around the whirlpool spa on the sundeck. Exterior furnishings have also been upgraded, and the sundeck itself is longer. On the main deck, the central atrium has been modernized, with a wider and revised main staircase, while there is an additional companionway from the wheelhouse deck up to the sun deck to ease crew access.
