SeaKeepers Bal de la Mer in Monaco

The energetic Patty Elkus, a founding member and board member of the International SeaKeepers Society, spearheaded the Women in Yachting & Ocean Advocacy Honorary Host Committee for the 2012 Bal de la Mer, one of the society’s signature events. Patty is a committed ocean advocate and champions the advancement of science and education. She invited a group of like-minded women within the yachting industry and beyond to help spread the word about the event honoring agnès b. in Monaco. The Committee’s work extends beyond the well-attended Seakeeper event. Committee members are tasked, through their extensive networks, to continue spreading the word about the huge challenges that the ocean environment face. Danish Yachts, a SeaKeeper member, and Committee member Cristina Sorensen Lötter extended an invitation for the group to network aboard the spectacular 125-foot Danish Yachts Shooting Star, which was on display at the Monaco Yacht Show. Shooting Star, a spectacular and luxurious day boat delivered in 2011 (see our article here), provided a stunning platform for a mid-afternoon get-together serving up fine foods and delicious cocktails concocted by the yacht’s impeccable crew. It was an opportunity for all to tour the yacht, find out more about Danish Yachts, meet the company’s new CEO and exchange ideas to keep the conversation of ocean advocacy going.
