Looking for something to do? Check out two interesting events coming soon, one aboard the ex-Presidential yacht Potomac in California and one in the Florida Keys celebrating vintage transportation.

For the 54th year, Fort Lauderdale hosts the largest in-water boat show in the world. This year, Show Management is rolling out new attractions and events, including a special new venue for Yachts International’s Owner’s Pavilion.

The Newport Charter Yacht Show just wrapped its annual show and we look back at what happened this year, but it’s not too early to look forward to the Fort Lauderdale show. October will be here sooner than you think!

The 2013 Art Basel in Switzerland marked the event’s 44th anniversary. Now with over 333,681 square feet (31,000 square meters) of exhibition space, Art Basel saw approximately 70,000 visitors walking its galleries this year.

The 2013 Bucket marked the first time in 76 years that five J-Class yachts were in the same place at the same time to compete with one another. The J’s on hand were Hanuman, Lionheart, Ranger, Velsheda and Rainbow. And it is a true testament to a handful of owners’ love of tradition, coupled with insanity, that has led to a resurgence of the J-Class.

The Palm Beach International Boat Show is always a favorite with exhibitors and attendees. It’s not too big, not too small and, if Goldilocks were reporting, she would say, “This show is just right!”

Yacht brokerage and management firm Ocean Independence hosted a glittering event April 25 at the Mall Galleries in London to celebrate the America’s Cup and the Louis Vuitton Cup. The event, dubbed “Legends in London,” brought the two most coveted trophies in sailing together.

The Antibes Yacht Show has grown since it’s inception in 2007 and this trend continued during the 2013 Antibes Yacht Show. It stretches from the Old Harbour to the International Yacht Club of Antibes. This year it played host to some of the largest yachts the show has seen.

A committee established by the organizers of the America’s Cup to review the recent death of a sailor during a training accident took the unusual step last week of recommending teams suspend sailing their catamarans.
