2013 Yacht & Brokerage Show

The future looked bright for the yachting business after the recent Yacht & Brokerage Show in Miami Beach, which lined Collins Avenue with one of the biggest fleets in its 25-year history. Exhibitors of everything from motoryachts to water toys to bottom paint gave the show glowing reviews, even after rain doused the docks on its second day. Yacht Works, Cranchi’s local dealer, reported all its boats sold. Ferretti had its best Miami show yet and Monte Carlo Yachts sold its new 70 in the show’s first three hours.

“The level of interest at our display was beyond my wildest imagination. The energy level of the potential buyers was so positive and the traffic so steady that it seemed almost surreal,” said Michael Joyce, CEO of Hargrave Custom Yachts. “It was a huge relief to fully understand that there was in fact substantial pent-up demand in our market segment…. We got three brokerage offers at the show and have two boats in survey now. Perhaps best of all for Hargrave, we now have a group of clients working on new-build proposals, which is vital to our factory operations.”
