A “Blue” Initiative in a “Green” Pavilion

On March 23, the Yachts International Lake Pavilion at the Palm Beach Boat Show was the venue for the kick-off party for the new foundation, Ports of Cause (POC). The primary sponsors of the event were Active Interest Media and Element Financial.

According to POC founder, Joyce Clear of Clear Yacht Interiors, “POC plans to propel a series of newly-refit luxury yachts into the global marketplace as a ambassadors for non-profit organizations and corporate social responsibility and to host red carpet events to raise money for these organizations.”

The charities that POC will be supporting hope to prevent further devastation of our oceans and stem the global water crisis. POC wishes to serve as a catalyst for heightened exposure, education, action and fundraising for multiple organizations including Plant a Fish, Waterkeeper Alliance, International SeaKeepers Society, Thirst No More and Join the Pipe.

The Yachts International “green” Pavilion served as the venue for over 250 VIP guests who enjoyed Puro Uno champagne, Knipschildt chocolates and a string quartet upon arrival. The Pavilion, awash in green and blue lighting, was alive with strolling musicians, inspirational imagery from POC charity partners, stunning marine photography by Leidy Images and beautiful displays by Furstenberg and Robbe and Berking Silver. Gourmet hors d’oeuvres were generously donated by Owen Doyle Provisions. Other supporters included Virginia Philip Wines, Deep Eddy Vodka, Spirits of the Tsars Golden Vodka, Zacapa Rum and Graycliff Cigars.

The event was attended by executives and professionals from within and outside of the global yachting industry. “It was a great pleasure to attend the launch of Ports of Cause at the Palm Beach Boat Show. I am very glad to see that a yachting industry-based environmental charity has garnered attention from international financial and technical companies who can bring a new vision and dynamic to our industry.” said Norma Trease, Director of U.K.-based Salamanca Group, developer of Marina Port Vell, Barcelona, Spain.
