Terence Disdale designed Ecstasea, which was built under a strict confidentiality agreement at the Royal Van Lent shipyard for Feadship. Despite secrecy surrounding the yacht at the time of her release, information about her build has trickled out over time. Roman Abramovich became known as the owner of this speedy vessel. But as he soon took delivery of a couple of new yachts, he took the opportunity to sell Ecstasea to a new owner. Merle Wood handled the transaction. Equipped with a gas turbine, four MTU engines and waterjets, the yacht is said to have a 36-knot top speed. Asian themes have inspired the yacht’s interior design, and its bow is said to house a helicopter garage. Its Abu Dhabi-based management company and recent visit to Dubai’s Yas Marina where she docked alongside the modern facility, suggest her new owner hails from the Middle East.
