Kingdom 5KR (Ex-Trump Princess, Nabila)
LENGTH: 282ft. 2in. (86m)
SHIPYARD: Benetti, Italy
YEAR: 1980
Adnan Kashoggi, once a well-known arms dealer ordered this yacht, designed by Jon Bannenberg. The yacht kept a fairly high profile, appearing on the big screen in the James Bond flick “Never Say Never.” Real estate mogul Donald Trump was the yacht’s next owner and renamed her Trump Princess. Prince Al Waleed bin Talal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud bought the vessel next, which became Kingdom 5KR. Once a year, Kingdom 5KR leaves her home port of Antibes and sails 10 miles to Cannes’ Port Canto or to drop anchor in front of the Carlton Hotel, one of the Prince’s favorite night spots on the Riviera. Prince Al Waleed is the late King Fahd’s nephew and grandson of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s founding monarch. According to the 2012 Forbes list of the world’s 100 wealthiest people, the prince ranks no. 29 in the world and no. 1 in Saudi Arabia. His fortune is estimated at $18 billion, with major sources of wealth derived from Kingdom Holding Company and Citigroup. Also an international philanthropist, he donates approximately $100 million per year to numerous causes. Among his many assets is an Airbus 380, and he showed sketches of a modern 561-foot yacht destined to become the new Kingdom 5KR on a French television program in 2007. We have reasons to believe this new yacht recently splashed under a different name at a well-known German superyacht shipyard.
