Moonen Shipyard is ready to deliver its largest motoryacht to date, a 138-foot (42-meter) custom yacht called Sofia. She is the third yacht Moonen has built for the same owner. At the launch party, the owner confessed he is considering commissioning an even larger project, which dovetails nicely with Moonen’s expansion plans.

Making Waves: Palumbo Shipyards Unveils “Sport Hybrid” Series

Italian builder Palumbo Shipyards introduced a new series of “green” yachts with hybrid propulsion at an elegant cocktail party at the Hôtel de Paris during the 2012 Monaco Yacht Show. The Columbus Sport Hybrid line, which ranges from 65 to 213 feet (25 to 65 meters), will be constructed entirely of aluminum on a displacement hullform designed by Sergio Cutolo of Hydro Tec.

The 1937 mahogany commuter yacht Posh left more than one visitor awestruck when she pulled alongside the docks at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. She is part of what may be the most famous triumvirate in the history of boating—three exceptional boats designed by John Hacker and built in the late 1930s by Huskins Boat Works of Bay City, Mich.: WeeJoe II, Tempo and Thunderbird.
